Danny saber

Los Angeles resident Danny Saber is a veritable
studio wizard whose multi-faceted skills as a musician, writer, producer,
engineer, remixer and DJ have seen him work with a long and varied list of
major artists including the likes of David Bowie, Sheryl Crow, Marilyn Manson,
U2, The Rolling Stones, Public Enemy, Willie Nelson, Ozzy Osbourne, Alice
Cooper, and Madonna.  His stint in the
90s as a member of seminal British outfit Black Grape showcased his myriad
abilities and jump-started his reputation as a “go-to” music man.  Saber has also made a name for himself in the
film arena with his captivating and creative soundtrack and score work.

Saber fostered a love of funk, heavy metal and
hard rock while growing up, and first hit the L.A. club scene as a member of
funk/hip-hop group Proper Grounds, the first band to be signed to Maverick
Records.  Signed to EMI and relocated to
the UK, in 1993 Saber joined forces with the legendary Shaun Ryder, former
front man of the Happy Mondays, the mega Manchester phenomenon that led the
late 80s/early 90s rave and club movement.
The stellar result was the critically acclaimed Black Grape album It’s Great When You’re Straight…Yeah
which debuted at #1 on the UK charts and spawned a slew of hit singles
including “In the Name of the Father.”
Saber co-wrote a number of tracks and produced the album in addition to
playing guitar, bass, keyboards, and organ.
He then went on to sport even more hats on the band’s second album, Stupid, Stupid, Stupid, with
multi-instrumental credits including the sitar alongside writing, producing,
arranging, and engineering nods.

In the meantime, his work with other artists
continued to burgeon.  He worked with the
late INXS star Michael Hutchence, producing and co-writing his solo album; the
pair played together at the infamous Viper Room in LA just days before
Hutchence’s untimely death.  Saber went
on to produce and perform on the Rolling Stones’ Bridges to Babylon album.  In
the late 90s he waved his magic wand and turned out a string of high-profile
remixes including Garbage’s “Stupid Girl,” Marilyn Manson’s “The Beautiful
People,” U2’s “Staring at the Sun” and David Bowie’s “Little Wonder.”

He then turned his considerable talent to film and
TV composing.  His music drove
commercials for McDonald’s, Taco Bell, and Coors Beer (an inspired usage of his
remix of Tom Jones’ 70s smash “She’s a Lady.”)
Saber’s gift for bridging the gap between soundtrack and score saw him
work on a wide range of studio and independent films including Moulin Rouge!, The Limey, Waist Deep, The Jackal, Alpha Dog, Blade II, S.W.A.T., The Love Guru, Go!, Played, and many more.

Danny Saber is as eclectic and accomplished as
they get.  Ensconced in his state of the
art studio, he will write up a storm, record every instrument himself, engineer
and produce away, and abracadabra – emerge with a polished and perfected work
bearing his unique stamp.  He is as
dedicated as ever to utilizing his broad-minded, cutting-edge approach to organically
creating new music.  We can’t wait to
hear what he conjures up next.
