Antiguan reggae legend Respect, is releasing his highly anticipated next full length hit CD, Scorned, on August 27th. Now celebrating its third year as a record label, Tropical (Records) has been releasing the very best in reggae music and other ancillary styles like legendary dance hall reggae music, and the latest CD to be released by Respect, is a quintessential hit reggae album for all reggae music fans. Scorned is another great addition by a known dance hall reggae artist, that has now released a roots reggae album for the world of music.

Its obvious to hear when listening to his (Respect) new reggae album, Scorned delivers the perfect sense to why the well known hardcore dance hall styled reggae artist would now be releasing what is a very rootsy reggae album. It works even though it may seem like a change to produce a roots record to the reggae and world music scene. The debut CD released by Respect with Tropical (Records), was/is a high energy dance hall CD whereas this latest Scorned CD shows a greater and more roots side of the legendary reggae artist, Respect. Besides, roots reggae has a big influence with Respect and there was always hints of it on his past albums. This is a great album that is very accessible to hear at any time.

The boundless energy with No-Limitt is the picture of what accompanies the sounds of an Afrolife Master beat, and with the release of Gbakurumo (Hold On) on May 24th, the Nigeria music artist can show that to the world. The albums harmonies are perfect with conga drums and his incredible lead vocal on every one of the ten songs being released on Tropical (Records). The album Gbakurumo (Hold On) brings excitement, if anything, in that Afrobeat music is popular today; Gbakurumo (Hold On) is an accessible and colorful World Music CD release.
“This is an important time to be a part of the development of Nigerian world music,” says Don Lichterman, the head of Tropical Records. And he says that “No-Limitt is the perfect Nigerian music artist and band leader to get his message to the rest of the world.” (Don) Lichterman also says that “the album is a vital work of contemporary World Music,” or what is described as an “Afrolife Master” sound or “Afrobeat.”
No-Limitt and the ensemble on the brand new CD release, is a great sounding band with a great sounding new CD, Gbakurumo (Hold On), with hints of dub, hip hop and world music. The full length album is filled with ten songs, the first single, Imele (God You've Done It), being worked to radio in May this year.
Celebration Of Life
It has come as no surprise when No-Limitt gained critical acclaim for their debut World Music and African Styled album Gbakurumo (Hold On) back in 2011. That crossover from a pure Nigerian and African artist, to a Top 40 Pop artist is why the main duo of the group is set to release their sophomore release with Tropical Records is entitled,Let The World Unit.
The first single being worked to radio stations around the world is the hit song, 'Celebration Of Life.' With more than 533 spins last week (up from 395 plays in its first week at radio), two PD's have already rated the song at a perfect “10” score rating while Maurizio Santi and Dee Jay Santi at Radio Mela, Modena Radio City and at Radio Mela states the first single as the “Future Hit summer 2014?” Also, 100% of all revenues gained by the sales and plays at YouTube of the 'African Life' Song and Music Video, go direct to the Stop Wild Life Crime at the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature). The video has already churned out more than 15,000 views before the street date and after about three weeks of being posted online.
The audacious duo is now set to release their second full length 10-track album "Let The World Unite", a fusion of straight up pop music along with a World Music base. The overall sound is traditional and accessible, especially if you won some type of sporting event or if you are just winning at life, the 'Celebration Of Life' single is an uplifting “It's A Small World” like vibe that is just righteous when it comes to living life happily. There are great hooks that will keep you singing along and the album is filled with songs and sounds with a steady bass line of African house rhythms known to be the “AfroLife Master” in the world of No-Limitt.
The entire album for that matter sends out great messages on so many levels. Its a very uplifting album keeping focused to their overall sound, however, most of the songs on this current CD are done in English which has been perfect for placement at radio and with regard to licensing (Debut CD was all sung in Nigerian and African). All songs are written by Skeldee and Danny who make up the main Duo part of No-Limitt. The entire new CD was Produced, Mixed and mastered by Emzreel Simeon at the Green Studio in Nigeria.
Songwriters/composers/singers Skeldee and Danny are the main vocalists and producer (Emzreel) Simeon no doubt went right at the mainstream to target the every listener and notably, the young, teenage and dance crowd - and so far, it has been great for the band. The result seen on this new CD is a fun and delightful collection of World Music and Pop Songs that reach out to ever walk of life that loves life. This album is an incredible way to show the true African form of expression which is great for music today.
No-Limitt's music and songs are about political issues, social issues such as abuse, poverty and the need for more education. It is their positive outlook on life that has given No-Limitt their individual quality in their music and that respect for life is what is heard in their music. More music and songs that round off the album are full of upbeat material with that steady bass line and wonderful melodies that has make up that great energy on this album. We Don't Talk No More
There are few female R&B vocalists, in Gina Thompson’s case over ten (10) years ago, that can attest to the success that a platinum selling artist with albums released on two different major record labels (Mercury/Motown and Elektra), working with the top record producers in the industry (Stevie J., Sean “P Diddy” Combs) and doing a single with Grammy Award Winner, Missy Elliot, that can talk about it today as their new single rises up the charts.
Having sold over a million CDs worldwide, the platinum selling artist is now set to release its third (3rd) album, "Missing You" on February 3, on Sunset Urban Records. “The single went to number one right away at Music choice’s Musica Urbana Channel so we had to get this out as soon as humanly possible, and it still took a few months for Rod (Millwood) to finish the CD,” says Don Lichterman, the head of Sunset Urban. Lichterman says the Urban Record Label will work this music vigorously to HipHop radio stations and to urban format stations. “Rod (Millwood) gave us many versions of the song to work so my plan is to send this hip-hop and urban along with world music stations and reggae stations,” says Lichterman about the new CD entitled, Missing You.
Rod Millwood is very well known for his staff producer deal he has in place with Lichterman’s label. Millwood has produced international top selling artists Mykal Rose (Black Uhuru), Mark Simmons, Roz, L. Myers, Don Ward and Kevin Hart along with his work with Gina Thompson. Millwood is also the owner of the world famous comedians club located on the popular South Street in Philadelphia. Lichterman considers Millwood one of the top producers in the world today. “Rod makes everything sound at such a high level that he has carte blanche with the label,” says Lichterman.
Over the course of Gina's career, the accomplished R&B and Soulful vocalist has released music at two (2) of the top record labels in the world, before now releasing her third (3rd) album entitled Missing You at the Sunset Urban Record Label. Her new single, "We Don’t Even Talk No More," has already shot up the charts according to Music Choice and its Musica Urbana Channel being the #1 song in its 1st week going for radio adds, and is currently going to try to be the most increased played song over the next few weeks. With The label is servicing all HipHop and Urban radio stations tracked by R&R (Radio & Records) and at BDS/Nielsen, since its release is not until next month, the label expects the song to be added to all major radio stations over the next couple weeks.
The Missing You CD is a very unique styled CD. It boasts many versions of the hit single all produced by Rod Millwood. Lichterman expects up to 4 of those versions to get radio play. There is also a club mix produced by Millwood that could be one of the favorite versions of the hit single. There is also a dancehall style and even a reggaeton version that are potential hits themselves and then there is a smooth R&B version of the song. “When I sat with Rod last year to hear the new music, we did not know what way to go with the songs,” says Lichterman and “then it hit me to use all of the great the versions of this songs and work them to a few radio formats. Having these versions makes this even a more fun project for us to work this year. I think my favorite version is the dancehall style and the radio promotion people love the club mix to work. We should all have these issues at labels.”
